Ghostcatching
Ghostcatching is a virtual dance installation created by the American dancer and choreographer Bill T. Jones with Paul Kaiser and Shelley Eshkar of the Riverbed Studio, specialising in new media. The dance was commissioned by the Cooper Union
for the Advancement
of Science and Art, New York.
Twenty two light-sensitive sensors were attached to Bill T. Jones’s body. His movements were captured by the sensors and recorded by eight optical cameras. Raw data were filtered
and read onto a kinematical model (a 'Biped' figure) and eventually edited in Character Studio within 3D Studio Max software.
