BTEC Advanced Certificate in 3D Animation

BTEC Advanced Certificate in 3D Animation is a pioneering educational project run by Lewisham City Learning Centre, Greater London, UK. The Centre is working with young people to develop their skills to create 3D models and landscapes and animate these within a virtual 3D environment. The software used is industry standard in the film and gaming industry, Autodesk’s Maya.

The aim of the project is to devise and develop a UK level 3 accreditation route for 3D Animation and Modelling. The project is delivered through collaboration with John Kellys' Girls Technology College in Neasdon and Dr Challenors Boys Grammar School in Amersham, and a number of other schools. The project is supported by the London region of City Learning Centres CLC) managers group. It is looking for partner schools to train teachers and deliver the accreditation to a growing network of young people across the region.

Project dates: The project originated in 2003 and has been running for 4 years from development to pilot stage. A new course started in September 2007 and run until May 2008.
